What do James Franco and half-naked revelers have in common? More than you might think: 7 For All Mankind tapped the Palo Alto native to direct a series of videos for the denim lifestyle brand for its spring advertising campaign. According to the CEO of the company, "James encapsulates that idea of freedom of expression and being modern in California."
The short films (see below) have a very '70s feeling to them: think sun-kissed hipsters frolicking on the beach in denim, of course. While there's nothing ground-breaking about the video, we are more than happy to spend a few moments in Franco's reverie. The Oscar-nominated actor described feeling "liberated from the conventional film apparatus" while working on this project, and we understand why -- models Lily Donaldson and Amber Anderson were amongst many of the actor's friends starring in the project.
The laid-back west coast vibe in the videos translates to all things related to 7, including the stores. Everything from the dark wooden floors to the clean white walls lends itself to feeling outside, and the denim cutoffs and turquoise-hued separates only add to the easy-going atmosphere. We visited the Soho store to get a feel for why the iconic brand is such a mainstay -- every girl has a pair of 7 jeans in her closet. Generally, they're the stallions in our stable of denim -- always performing at their peak, they can be counted on to complete just about any look.
