Anna Wintour State Dinner Dress 2012 Is A Repeat! (PHOTOS)

Like Michelle Obama and Kate Middleton, Anna Wintour loves a good outfit repeat. But to wear the exact same evening gown to two high-profile events? Even FLOTUS would never pull that.

But Vogue's queen bee makes her own fashion rules. On Wednesday evening, she waltzed into the White House for the formal State Dinner wearing a white Chanel Spring 2009 couture gown -- the same one she wore to the 2009 Costume Institute Gala at the Met.

Anna swept past reporters last night (stopping only to mention that her dress was by Chanel, natch) then joined guests including George Clooney, Harvey Weinstein, Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman and of course President and Michelle Obama and Prime Minister and Samantha Cameron in the tents on the White House South Lawn.

Wintour made for an ideal guest at the event, which honored British Prime Minister Cameron and the UK's chummy relationship with the United States. Anna was just one of several British celebs in attendance, including several "Downton Abbey" cast members.

She also, of course, is a key Obama supporter, having raised at least half a million dollars for the president's reelection campaign. We're not sure whether that includes money raised from her fashionable Runway To Win project, but it certainly includes the cash brought in from not one but two fancy New York dinner parties she's hosted in Obama's honor over the past two years.

Which is all to say that she can wear anything she pleases to the White House. They'll just be glad she came.

See Anna in her Chanel Couture last night as well as at the 2009 Met Gala. Are you a fan of the dress?

It just goes to show that REAL CLASS never goes out of style...(and that goes for the dress as well!) But in all honesty: Miss Wintour looks quite amazing in that Chanel dress. It's both Ladylike and Sexy. And it emphasizes her femininity and slender figure even more. So it's an eyecatcher for all the right reasons. It really brings (almost) the best out of Anna. I say "almost", because this particular dress is certainly not the most impressive dress I've seen Anna in over the past few years. But for formal occasions like these, it will do very nicely thank you.
(Because under no circumstances you want to embarass your host. Let alone The First Lady)
But as Anna probably knows more about etiquette and fashion than most "journalists" will give her
credit for, tacky and tasteless situations won't ever see the light of day, as Anna simply won't allow it. So don't hold your breath. All in all, on a scale from one to ten, I would rate this dress, either an eight or a nine. As it's almost a perfect fit. So wearing it only twice (!) over a period of two
years(!) is Much Ado About (Absolutely) Nothing! But I guess those columns have to be filled one way or another...In the meantime, I'm really looking forward to see what Anna's wearing next...On
any old occasion...And Anna still remains, without question, a True and Utter BABE...Period.

Who doesn't have a favorite dress, or shirt, etc. Can you imagine if you were only allowed to wear it once? So silly. If you love clothes, you have favorite pieces and you're going to wear them.

Good! Glad to see that. It's a very pretty dress perfect for the occasion. WHY NOT wear it more than once. That rule is ridiculous.

In the real world people wear things twice.

Seeing how some of these dresses cost more than cars, it seems one would want to make as much use of them as possible. She obviously doesn't care that it was a repeat. After all, her hairstyle seems to be permanent - every photo I've seen she's wearing that same helmet.

That dress is a 'repeat?'
Why would anyone want to wear that dress 'ONCE?'

it is a fabulous dress. She looks amazing. very chic and in today's economy i highly respect anyone who thrifts,or recycles,re-purposes,re-uses....to me it says i care about the everyday woman/man's plight. she could afford to wear a different dress everyday and never give it a thought. it is a little thing...but it is the little things that make me feel that this person is more 'in touch' with the elements of day to day living....unlike most of the vapid masses....hats off to Anna
