Posted: 03/19/2012 9:57 pm

WASHINGTON -- A classified war simulation held this month to assess the American military's capabilities to respond to an Israeli attack on Iran forecast that the strike would lead to a wider regional war, which could draw in the United States and leave hundreds of Americans dead, according to American officials.

So the simulation predicts that hundred of Americans will be killed; is there a prediction re/ the number of Isralis who might be killed or will this just be another proxy war for them?

Even the hawks are against a war with Iran and I would see more than a few hundred American dead. The message to Israel should be: If you attack Iran, you're on your own.

IF THEY DID TRUST ME THEY CAN TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES! JUST WATCH!! SPECIALLY IF IT GOES AS THE BIBLE TELLS ABOUT IT! GET OUT THE TOILET PAPER BUDDY! YOU WILL BE NEEDING IT TO WIPE UP THE BROWN ! HAVE YOU REALLY TAKEN A LOOK AT THE MAPS AND CONSIDERED WHY ISRAEL SEES THE IRANIAN THREAT AS JUST THAT! THEY HAVE NO CHOICE SPECIALLY HOW IRAN IS THREATENING DEATH TO ALL THE ISRAELIS! JUST LOOK!

Then Israel doesn't need the US...personally I do not care what mess Israel gets into as long as my country is not involved...and I read maps very well but israel will be condemned...again.

No matter how often US military and intelligence saying it's against US interests to have a war with Iran, Zionists are always ranting in their own bubble believing rest of world is simply wrong, lol!

What's wrong with taking another people's land, threatening your neighbours nearly every year, attacking your neighbours nearly every year, violating international law, abusing the indigenous population, attacking boats in international water killing thousands of women and children, and complaining about how everybody hates you.

Nothing at all wrong with that, eh.

Sounds a bit illogical. US Afganistan war or Iraq war or Libia war are not perilous to the US but Israel's strike on Iran is perilous? To follow this logic the GB strike against Argentina's Malvine islands also supposed to be perilous to the US?

Maybe youre not aware theyre completely different countries.

What the hell has Britain defending itself from occupation got to do with Iran?!

Apart from the fact it's the falkland islands who have no wish to be controlled by the junta in argentina, Ur point is well made

FYI: There is no junta in Argentina any more!
It has been governed by democratically elected presidents since 1983!

I still have no idea why you find Vlady's point "well made"...

Apart from the fact that Britain doesn't jeopardize the USA. And Israel violates international law constantly. Yeah yeah, great point.

Are these the same type of war games that concluded that Iraqis will be welcoming us with roses, rolling out the red carpet for our armored vehicles and giving 10 of their finest girls to each American GIs and begging us to be forever their masters? Are they the same war games which predicted that US forces will lose only somewhere between 1-50 soldiers in Iraq and that we will clean the Taliban clock in one week, turn the godforsaken mountainous land into Manhattan in 2 years and Christened every Afghan from the oldest to the youngest?

If these are the same war games, then I think I already know what horse I would place my bet on. War games are just that folks, figments of the warlords' imagination... take the game part out of the equation and the reality can and is always very murky.

"But Netanyahu knew he could get away with it—so staunch and absolute is the bipartisan support he commands in the U.S. Garishly illuminating the point, on the night before

HIS SPEECH TO CONGRESS,

the prime minister attended the annual AIPAC policy conference in Washington, where he was the headline speaker at the event’s gala banquet.

Beforehetookthestage, threeannouncers, amidflashingspotlights and in the style of the introductions at an NBA All-Star game, read the names of every prominent person in the room, including

67 SENATORS,

286 HOUSE MEMBERS, and

DOZENS OF ADMINISTRATION and Israeli officials, foreign dignitaries, and student leaders. (The roll call took half an hour.)

When HARRY REID spoke, he obliquely but UNAMBIGUOUSLY CHASTISED Obama

for endorsing the use of the 1967 lines as the basis for a peace deal:

“No one should set premature parameters about borders, about building, or about anything else.” The ensuing ovation was deafening—but a mere whisper compared with the thunderous waves of applause that poured over Netanyahu.

The next day came HIS SPEECH TO CONGRESS, inwhichhespelledoutdemandsthatweremaximalbyanymeasure:

recognition bythe Palestinians of Israel asa Jewish state asa PRECONDITION for negotiations, a refusal totalk if Hamas ispart ofthe Palestinian side, an undivided Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, and absolutely no right of return for Palestinian refugees."

You have no clue do you?

The Muslim-Arabs' reject every offer and opportunity to reach an accommodation of peaceful coexistence with the Jewish people, and later with its nation-state of Israel:

1917, Balfour Declaration, rejected

1920, San Remo Conference, rejected

1922, League of Nations decisions, rejected

1937, Peel Commission proposal, rejected

1947, United Nations proposal, rejected

1948, Israel's peace offer, rejected

1967, Israel's peace offer, rejected

1978, Begin/Saadat proposal, rejected

2000, camp david , Barak/Clinton offer, rejected

2005, Sharon's gesture, rejected

2008, Olmert's proposal, rejected

2009 to present, Netanjahu's offer to talk peace directly, rejected

In addition, between the years 1948 and 1967 the now disputed territories were "cleansed" of their former Jewish residents and totally ruled by the Muslim-Arabs, yet, during this whole period of time no independent state was set up there and Jerusalem was not proclaimed its capital city. Why?

I dont know the last time Israel ever did anything to defend the US from anything ! Why the heck does 2% of the US population (Jewish people) have such a high impact on US foreign policy? not to mention a history of supreme court justices as well as a control and influence on US media? http://en.metapedia.org/wiki/List_of_Jewish_media_executives_in_America

Im an American and I think the US is getting the short end of the stick on the Israeli "ally" relationship.

It will take 100 planes to do any damage in Iran thus all the US carrier groups sitting there. It is the neocons dictating policty again along with Israeli paranoia of losing control in the region.

Israel will draw the whole world into conflict because of their fear of losing control. The West motives is for the rest of Iranian gold and oil. They arent under the West's imperaiist boots and that pisses off the elite more than anything else.

"EIGHTY-ONE CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVES from all over the country, led by Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer and House Majority Leader

Eric Cantor, are traveling to Israel thismonth.

Most are freshmen congressmen, and the group includes HALF OF ALL THE FRESHMEN REPUBLICANS voted into office in 2010.

The weeklong trips are being paid for by the American Israel Education Foundation (AIEF), which was created in 1990 as a supporting organization of

AIPAC, America’s major pro-Israel lobbying organization, and theyarelocatedinthe same building.

AIEF, which is ONLY ONE OF NUMEROUS ORGANIZATIONS PUSHING PRO-israel POLICIES, has an annual budgetof

over $24 million, with an even larger endowment.

This is an extraordinary situation.

NO OTHER LOBBY ON BEHALF OF A FOREIGN COUNTRY COMES ANYWHERE NEAR CONTROLLING SUCH WEALTH OR TAKING SO MANY OF AMERICA'S ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES ON A PROPAGANDA TRIP to its favorite country.

Not all those going on these trips are enthusiastic. The wife of one congressman who made a similar trip some years ago said that she and her husband had never been exposed to such pressure in all their lives. She said that at one point on their trip, her husband — a normally extremely tough man — was curled up in a fetal position."

Fanned and faved, hamsteronawheel. Until AIPAC is listed as a foreign lobby, we, as Americans will be bound upon a wheel of fire of constant war, rumours of war and threats of terrorism. It's just that simple. Campaign finance reform is the only route to saving our democracy.

It's a sure thing that Iran will get a few good licks in, both on Israel and the US forces in the ME. And that's the main reason why the US hasn't bombed Iran yet. Not to mention the nuclear deterrant threat from Russia and China.

This assessment is just an assessment. The major problem we have here is not Iran. It is our so-called ally Israel. We protected Israel in 1948, in 1956, in 1967, in 1973, in 1978 and we continue to do so in spite of Israel spying on us. By going alone (which Israel already did), Israel shows little respect to its allies' interests. In these circumstances, why should the US be dragged in Israel's mess?
The pro Israel lobby in Washington DC is extremely powerful, and certainly impacts decisions that should be US security driven only. This is our problem, and unless we resolve that issue, the US will never have a clear view of the matter in the Middle East.

"We protected Israel in 1948, in 1956, in 1967, in 1973, in 1978 "

A highly questionable generalization.

I was speaking maybe a 1 year ago with a former Viet Nam vet. I was saying that it is good that the wars in Asia are coming to an end (notice I did not say Middle East). He quickly corrected me saying.."They are only drawing down to start another..look out." He was absolutely right. I think it is full time to get away with this volunteer army. The day volunteer armies are done away with this world will become a more peaceful place. Imagine Mitt Romney (5 men of military age) or any politician for that matter starting a war knowing that their kids could be involved in the war.
