Michael Bay To 'Ninja Turtles' Fans: 'Take A Breath And Chill'

Michael Bay Tells 'Ninja Turtles' Fans To 'Chill Out'

Fans of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" franchise were outraged after producer Michael Bay announced that he planned to change the origins of the Turtles -- from mutated turtles to aliens -- for his new live action "Ninja Turtles" film.

"Fans need to take a breath, and chill," Bay wrote on his website. "They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of 'Ninja Turtles' to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world."

However, some fans are still wary of Bay's creative intentions, including Robbie Rist, who voiced Michelangelo in the 1990 live-action "Teenage Muntant Minja Turtles" movie. The actor wrote an open letter to Bay, via TMZ.

"You probably don't know me but I did some voice work on the first set of movies that you are starting to talk about sodomizing," Rist wrote. "I know believing in mutated talking turtles is kinda silly to begin with but am I supposed to be led to believe there are ninjas from another planet? The rape of our childhood memories continues."
