"View" co-host Sherri Shepherd debuted in her new role Monday night as a fierce competitor on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars."

Shepherd took to the stage with her partner Val Chermerkovskiy and preformed the foxtrot. She donned a purple dress embellished with rhinestones and looked genuinely thrilled to dance. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba declared Shepherd the happiest contestent the show has ever had. Judge Len Goodman said he could sum up her performance in three words: "fun, fun fun." Shepherd shrieked with excitement when she heard the positive feedback.

Shepherd has been keeping her Twitter followers and "View" audience abreast of her intense "Dancing" preparations. She said she spent weeks practicing for five hours each day, including on weekends. During a backstage webisode of "The View," Shepherd told executive producer Bill Geddie that she was not planning on wearing revealing costumes on the show. "I'm not confident enough to show skin," Shepherd said. She did indicate that she would show off her legs as she called them her best asset.

Though Shepherd might have said otherwise, she was oozing with confidence on Monday night's dance floor. She stopped for a moment after her dance to kiss her son, who was seated in the audience proudly watching his mother.
