George Clooney Tequila: Star Launching 'Casamigos' Line

Posted: 03/21/2012 12:12 pm Updated: 03/21/2012 12:52 pm

George Clooney Tequila
Actor George Clooney arrives for the State Dinner in honor of British Prime Minister David Cameron at the White House in Washington on March 14, 2012.

After so many other celebrities have decided to get into the wine game recently (Drew Barrymore, Antonio Banderas, AC/DC, Train, Dave Matthews and more), it's no surprise that George Clooney is joining the celebrities-that-have-an-alcohol-brand team. However, Clooney isn't taking the wine route like many of his fellow famous actors. Instead, he's going for tequila. And, he's teaming up with Cindy Crawford's restaurateur husband Rande Gerber.

The tequila's name, Casamigos, was inspired by their homes in Mexico, and it is expected to be sold at "a reasonable price point." Casamigos will apparently be a Mexican tequila that Gerber and Clooney have been enjoying for years.

"I don’t think we’re going to be following all the rules,” Gerber told 213 Nightlife. “We know we have a product we love and we drink, and other people will enjoy. The product speaks for itself.”

Little else is currently known about the tequila project.

Hey George, I thought you were dedicated to the people in Sudan. Popping in and out of a situation shows that just maybe you might not be as sincere as you made out to be. The Sudan issue is not a typical Geldoph issue or a 'Band Aid' issuethose too were failures. I sort of knew that the "Sneaking over the border" scam was a little too unbelievable. Bottoms up dude.

You don't actually believe anything that you just said. You're just baiting.

People can do more than one thing at once. He doesn't need to exclude everything else in his life in order for his advocacy to be valid. But you know that. I'm just saying it to publicly put you in your place.

The Sudan issue like any other African issue, is deeply rooted in their societies and not in the way all westerners believe including 'Clooney' and obviously yourself. That is why Africans will have to find their own way out, not because of a lack of money or resources. Africa has been suffering for centuries and that awareness is a daily concern of thousands of supporters and organizations. Let Clooney stay on his own continent, his style of 'alarm' helps no one but sure seems to get what he needs for his new 'Tequila Line', of Western omnipotence and self indulgence, another form of 'Public Place'.

Well for a reasonable sipping tequila I would say they need to be in the $45 to $65 dollar range.

But I am not sure George Clooney sits around drinking tequila that is that reasonable lol.

Why don't you just tell us the name of the tequila you've been enjoying for years and we'll buy that instead the same thing put into your bottle.

The product may speak for itself, but it sure doesn't hurt that the product will have Clooney and friends speaking for it as well.

You want great tequila? Get Roger Clyne's Mexican Moonshine. It's a little pricey, hard to find, but well worth it. Best I've had. It's available in the Phoenix area liquor stores (and online) and in some Mexican restaurants in the area. You want great rock n' roll - Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers. Great music and you'll never see a better live performance.

All I can seem to find is the Resposado for sale but their site seems to show a bottle of either Silver or Anejo but no description of it.

Try this link: http://www.mexicanmoonshine.com/

It's kinda hard to find but worth it. As are their performances.

Another Inflationary Brand of Cheap American Made Tequila on the Super Market Shelves. Another Bitter Angry Intelligent African Militant Reformer. Another Day in the Sun for George Clooney.

Tequila is only made in the state of Jalisco, and is protected by international treaties. So no, it is not American made, and thus there is no reason reading the rest of your comment.

Oh, great, another celebrity with a liquor brand. The question is whether it will be lousy like Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo tequila or completely undrinkable like Dan Ackroyd's Crystal Head vodka.
