A central Florida man is now behind bars after calling 911 complaining that his wife would not let him check Facebook in peace.

Although arrested for misuse of 911, Doyle Hardwick, 57, never showed up for his original 60-day sentence so an arrest warrant was issued. He turned himself on Tuesday, police say.

Hardwick's recent trouble started when he requested emergency services because he "just wanted someone to make my wife do what I wanted her to do," according to a Pasco County Sheriff's report.

A summary of his September 24 call states:

(Caller) is upset because she won't go to bed. (Caller) said he gave her beers so she would go to bed, now they are bickering about who has been drinking. (Caller) had 4 beers, wife has had 8 beers. (Caller) is upset because she wouldn't let him look at Facebook peacefully.

Police say they met the wife, Julie Hardwick, 54, outside the couple's trailer home. Once inside, police saw Hardwick still on the phone with the 911 operator.

After hanging up, deputies spoke with Hardwick, who they describe as "talkative but calm" and smelling moderately of alcohol, according to the report.

Hardwick told police he called 911 because he was "upset about his wife sitting next to him and not going to sleep after he gave her beers to go to sleep."

Police then spoke with his wife, who they also said smelled slightly of alcohol.

Julie Hardwick told them that "her husband asked her to not sit next to him and she told him she didn't feel like sitting anywhere else."

She said her husband threatened to call 911 and the police to make her go to bed.

Hardwick was arrested for misuse of 911. He was sentenced on March 1 to serve 60 days in jail. As of March 19, Hardwick was cited as a "no show" and a search warrant was issued.

After turning himself in Tuesday, Hardwick is being held at the Land'O'Lakes detention center.

Hardwick had been previously charged with misuse of 911. In May 2010 he called 911 for a ride to his daughter's house, according to the incident report, as well as to report neighbors who had been "defecating in old vehicle fuel tanks."
