WASHINGTON -- A pregnant mother's fetus has died after an overnight stabbing incident in the Washington Highlands neighborhood in Southeast D.C.
According to The Washington Times, the mother, eight months pregnant, was stabbed by an intruder who broke into her home early Thursday morning in the 4200 block of 9th Street SE, near the Prince George's County border:
Police said the woman was asleep on her living room couch but was awakened when a man broke in through the locked front door. Once the man was inside he stabbed her in the stomach and fled.
The mother, who hasn't been identified, is expected to survive.
As the Washington Examiner reports, three other women were stabbed Wednesday night in an unrelated incident in the 400 block of Rhode Island Avenue NE. The victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries. A suspect has been arrested in that case.
