"I Love Lucy" may have ended its seven-year run in 1957, but its comedy is timeless. Ball's quirky humor and slap stick delivery, paired with an equally as talented cast, is comedic gold. Now, that humor is being brought back to the stage in Chicago Broadway Playhouse's rendition of "I Love Lucy Live on Stage," Playbill reports.
"I Love Lucy Live on Stage" is an interactive experience with the audience playing the part of the live audience on set at the Desilu Playhouse soundstage. The musical is complete with an "Applause" sign and on-stage snafus as Lucy and the gang film two episodes: “The Benefit" and “Lucy Has Her Eyes Examined." The Crystaltone Singers, the show's sponsors, entertain guests between scenes.
The play acts as an informational session as well, with the host explaining the history of the show and behind-the-scenes tips and tricks, including Desilu's pioneering multi-camera recording method.
