Samuel L. Jackson brough his iconic voice to the NBA on Thursday night, introducing the starting lineups for the Los Angeles Clippers and New Orleans Saints before a regular-season game in the Big Easy.
Despite his penchant for exquisitely delivering profane dialogue in his Hollywood roles, Jackson kept this appearance PG. He did, of course, bring a bit of flair to the proceedings, first with his introductions for Blake Griffin and Chris Paul.
- At forward, 6'10" from the University of Oklahoma, No. 9 on Top Plays last night.. No. 32.. Blake Griffin
- And, at guard, 6'3" from Wake Forrest, was No. 1 in your heart.. still No. 3 on your programs.. Chris Paul
When it come to introducing the starters for the hometown Hornets, Jackson dropped some of his most iconic dialogue from Pulp Fiction, with a few minor tweaks:
"And they will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy New Orleans. And you will know their name is the Hornets when they lay their vengeance upon you."
Jackson went from the rousing riff to introducing Hornets forward Jason Smith. Based on the way that Smith later struck down Griffin, certainly laying his vengeance upon him, it would seem that Jackson's words hit their mark.
