Will you be checking out "The Hunger Games" tonight?
I plan on going with my girlfriends this weekend. (We are all fans).

Who's your favorite character from the books?
My favorite character is of course, the heroine Katniss! She kicks ass.

Which is better: "The Hunger Games" or "Twilight?"
No question, Hunger Games all the way.

If you could play any character in the film, who would it be?
I'd happily work craft services just to be on set! But both Katniss and Effie are amazing characters and I'm excited to see them come to life on the big screen!

I saw the movie yesterday afternoon, and while it's not the book (after all, how could it be?) it captures the essence of the novel and is well worth seeing. Jennifer Lawrence is indeed perfect, and I really couldn't detect a false note in any of the actors. The little girl who plays Rue is especially memorable. My only real quibble with the film **MINOR SPOILER** is the addition of several scenes that overtly foreshadow the rebellion and how Katniss catches the President's eye in a negative way fairly early on. I think this was entirely unnecessary, because Katniss' forcing the Capitol's hand at the end of the actual games has a much greater impact if they haven't already determined she is a loose cannon who won't be cowed by them.

I agree with what you are saying about how Katniss catches the President's eye, they really missed an opportunity for some powerful moments at the very end; especially with the berries. That really fell flat... it could have been so powerful.

My daughter and I thought so, too. We also felt like cutting out their injuries/time in hospital, etc. at the end was a mistake. And I understand they had to compress time in the arena for the movie, but it came at the expense of that feeling of a struggle for sheer survival that was such a big part of the book. It was alluded to that many of the tributes would die NOT at the hands of other tributes, but you really didn't get that in the film. Remember how Katniss spends the first 3 days or so looking for water, and is so dehydrated she's in seriously bad shape? A few minutes of that in the movie would have helped convey the sheer difficulty of just surviving.
