'The Hunger Games' Soundtrack: Neko Case's 'Something To Remember' (AUDIO)

Katniss Everdeen

UPDATE: A reader alerted us to the fact that only 3 songs on the HG soundtrack are actually played during the movie, and that too, during the closing credits. The YouTube debate described below is now a purely theoretical one.

Ugh "The Hunger Games." First the books were SO GOOD, and now the movie is supposed to be SO GOOD, and meanwhile, the soundtrack is definitely SO GOOD. Here's a great representative to start your weekend, Neko "Kidman's tough little sister" Case, singing all sweet and sad-like about "giving her something to remember" (meaning Katniss. Give Katniss something to remember, Peeta! Or Gale! (Team Both))

Already the song has launched a fierce debate amongst the tweens of YouTube. Consider the options:

this song should be played when Katniss is going to meet Gale in the woods at the very beginning :) --iBlonddee

This should be played when Peeta and Katniss are going to the Capitol on the train
OR
When Peeta and Katniss are getting ready to their interviews!!!!
-- KandyandChocolate

In such matters, we declare there to be no winners or losers, only scholarly enjoyers of the Hunger Games franchise. (Our hope: the flower scene with Rue! Like the song is Katniss' badass and yet sensitive plea to the Districts? "I owe you nothing," etc. It works!) On that note, we leave you to enjoy/cry/form your own definitive opinion about the song's placement.

If this movie has kids listening to Neko Case, that is a big plus in may book. That lady can flat out sing.

I liked this movie, I saw it this evening with my boys ( 17 & 21 ) we felt the ratings were higher than they should've been. In parts of the movie were, the screen would pop up, were the viewers in the movie could see what was going on in the hunger game- just didn't seem to fit the movie, the ending could've been better as well. I loved the senic views and characters. As I read in other articles, some felt this movie had to many gory parts. I did not. I'm one that does not like scary movies or killings ! This was not that bad. maybe for younger children i could see concern.

Can you put your country before your party?

I know the country is in your blood, Neko. But let the pop and rock and punk out, because it's in your soul.

Loved Neco a way long time ago. Her voice is haunting, and she is amazing.
