Rising tennis star Bernard Tomic wasn't too pleased with his father/coach at the Sony Ericsson Open.

Rising tennis star Bernard Tomic grew upset with a spectator during his loss to David Ferrer at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami on Saturday. That spectator happened to be his father and coach, John Tomic.

Between games during the second set, the 19-year-old asked chair umpire Cedric Mourier to remove his father from the stands.

"He's annoying me," Tomic said. "I know he’s my father, but he’s annoying me. I want him to leave, but how is that possible?"

When Mourier asked Tomic what would happen if he told his father to leave, he simply said that it wouldn't happen.

"If you see him, tell him to be quiet," Tomic said.

During a game in which Tomic ultimately held serve to even the set at 2-2, the television broadcast showed John noticeably upset with his son's performance. According to reports, Tomic repeatedly gestured toward his father with his racquet, seeming to suggest that he leave the stadium.

At the next opportunity, the younger Tomic approached the ref. Mourier handed out a warning to John, who stayed to watch the rest of the match.

Following the loss, Tomic denied asking to remove his father and claimed that he was asking John to have his racquets restrung.

The Australian is now ranked 38th in the world and burst on the scene when he reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon in 2011, ousting No. 5 Robin Soderling (his first top 10 win).

It's too bad some fathers have to try to measure the success in their lives through their sons.

A tennis father like a stage mother. Well, look at Williams, Pearce, Parker (1940s). Sh* * happens.
Btw, the comment below about Slavs should have been edited out long ago. Are you reading, HP?

Wow, and I thought I had it bad when my l8 year old son asks me constantly when we go out shopping "Mom, could you walk behind me, or somethin'?"

Why shouldn't his father be ejected? If it bothered Tomic, then he should leave. But I wouldn't want to have been at their dinner table that night. Breaking away from your parents is very tough sometimes when your parent becomes an ogre.

Tomic and his family are your typical out of control slavs. There was another croatian woman who lived in Australia and was in the top 10 a few years back. Her name was Djokic and her father was so unbearable, he would constantly be escorted out of the stadium. Most famously, he was ejected from Wimbledon for complaining about the price of fish and chips. He then laid down in the roadway until removed by police. Several times at the Australian Open, Serbs and Croats have had massive, chair throwing fights. What can you do about people that backward?

The PARENTS are the worst ones at times... I know it off the happenings in my life... But parents and family need to learn to step back when it comes to concentration on a game... Learn to let it be taken into the hands of the one on the court, field or whatever spot they would be at...

Mom & Dad aren't out there the child is... It's the child that will give their results... Nothing off the parents words so it's best for them to keep shut and respect their childrens wishes so they can get better....

Did you throw a dart at the wall to decide whose side you would be on in this...father or son? You sure father wasn't being totally disruptive and causing son to lose focus perhaps?

..i used to referee many a youth sport in my day & i can attest that there was always some parent that needed to be thrown off the premises.... and more than once i heard a child yell at his parent for being so obnoxious during the game.... parents are dorks at their kids' athletic games.....the really are...!

Someone is scared of their own father.  You are ranked in the top 50 now.  Time to cut the cord and get your own coach.
