UPDATE: Miley Cyrus has been sporting a sparkly ring, but she's definitely not engaged. The singer responded to reports she was planning to tie the knot with Liam Hemsworth on Monday, tweeting:
"I'm not engaged. I've worn this same ring on this finger since November! People just wanna find something to tal about! It's a topaz people!"

Sources close to Cyrus tell Us Weekly that although the starlet has been sporting a giant diamond on her ring finger, she and boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, 22, are not engaged.
The singer and actress showed up to Muhammad Ali's Celebrity Fight Night XIII event in Phoenix, Ariz., rocking the rock and on Thursday, she tweeted a photo of the sparkler, but cooed only about her obsession with a certain nail polish.
If Cyrus wanted to start a rumor that she and Hemsworth were engaged, posting a photo of the ring was a great way to do it. Hemsworth has already had a ton of press recently with the mega-buzz surrounding "The Hunger Games," and an engagement rumor would certainly add to that frenzy.
If the ring is a publicity stunt, Miley doesn't seem to appreciate the attention it's won her. For weeks, the actress has been openly complaining on Twitter about how the paparazzi has been hounding her.
On Friday she tweeted, "The paparazzi already killed Princess Di. What do you we have to do to stop these murderers." A few days earlier she complained to her Twitter followers, "Just tried to take a walk around my neighborhood but couldn't because of the low life paparazzi. Instantly put me in a bad mood."
Earlier in the month, Cyrus also recounted how she told a photographer to find another line of work: "Today I told a paparazzi to get a real job and he said you too. Hahahahahaha." She later explained to a fan, " @saaaaaaarrrrrah cuz its stalking. how would u feel being followed around by men u don't know? & cuz they risk my life driving dangerously."
Dealing with the paparazzi is part of being a celebrity and Cyrus is photographed nearly everywhere she goes, but showing off what looks like an engagement ring seems like an invitation for attention.
