Questlove's Playlist: Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Kool And The Gang Make List Of His Favorites

Posted: Updated:

On Sunday, Questlove of The Roots, closed the EMP Museum’s Sounds of the City Pop Conference with a talk on vinyl and record collecting at New York University. During the talk, he gave the audience a list of some of his favorite tracks, according to NYU Local.

From The Jackson 5's "Boogie Man" to Public Enemy's "Rebel Without A Cause" and any track from De La Soul, it's clear to see that Questlove has an eclectic taste in music. In a recent interview with CBS News, Questlove opened up about his unique friendship with the late Amy Winehouse and their mutual love of jazz music.

"We spent a lot of time on Skype talking about crazy ideas and she schooled me about Sarah Vaughan," Questo recalled. "I schooled her about J Dilla. And she was like, 'All right, we're going to start a super group. You, me, Mos [Def] and Raphael Saadiq.'"

Questlove later revealed that he was open to Winehouse's idea of a cross-genre collaboration.

"I was like, 'OK.' And she assigned homework: 'All right, study this record,'" he recalled. "I really miss not having her here to school me on jazz; I thought I was a music snob, and I thought I had my doctorate in jazz, but no. There's so much more I could have learned. She's a teacher."

Take a look at some of Questlove's favorite tracks below.
