George H.W. Bush Endorses Mitt Romney: 41st President Gives Formal Backing

By STEVE PEOPLES 03/29/12 06:25 PM ET AP

HOUSTON — George H.W. Bush is formally supporting Mitt Romney's bid for the Republican nomination for president.

The nation's 41st president says Romney is a good man who would make a "great president." And he says it's time for Republicans to unite behind Romney.

The pair, joined by former first lady Barbara Bush, briefly faced reporters Thursday evening in Bush's Houston office to make the endorsement official. The 87-year-old Bush had informally endorsed Romney on multiple occasions in recent months.

One of Bush's sons, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, endorsed Romney last week. Another son, former President George W. Bush, has stayed out of the GOP nomination race.

Romney says he didn't meet with George W. Bush during his two-day Texas visit but speaks to him from "time to time."

Of course the rich support the rich! Both men are out of touch with the realities of living in America from paycheck to paycheck and not knowing where the food for your children is going to come from. These men will NEVER know what it's like to worry about paying rent or transportation to and from work. Both men born with $$$ and fighting to make sure they keep and can make as much more as they can all while beating down the middle class. It's sad to say, but it's the American way.

If you have a job, why do you have to worry about where food for you children is coming from, unless you spend a lot on unnecessary amenities that you can't afford, like home bigger than you can afford, two cars, everyone has a cell phone, game boy, ipad, boat, you know, keep up with the neighbors items. .

The socks killed me too. He's so out of it. Nice that he thinks he can come across in any other way but the filthy campaigns he fought. Who cares what "socks" thinks? Not me!

Bush was going to endorse Santorum, but Rick took one look at those socks and said, "I don't think so."

I know the Former President is aging rapidly. Nevertheless he should not appear dressed like that in public. the presidency is also about symbolism and appearances need to be maintained.

BTW, has anyone seen or heard from Dubya recently? I can't imagine why none of the GOP candidates are clamoring for his endorsement. After all, they thought he was a great President, didn't they?

He really was!!!!!! Too bad you let the media tell you who's who and what they are rather than use your own judgement. I started to say intelligence but I thought better of that.

Prescott Bush, a founding member of Planned Parenthood, is probably rolling over in his grave because his son GHW Bush is supporting the man who swears he will end it.

Prescott Bush was a supporter for Adolph Hitler as well. Made a lot of money from it. I guess in later years he played the Andrew Carnegie card

So was Henry Ford. Good role models for present-day GOPers.
