Faith Inspires: Faith For Change

Editor's note: Every week, HuffPost Religion shines a spotlight on religious people doing good work in their communities. If you would like to recommend a faith-inspired organization, initiative or person in your community, send an email to religion@huffingtonpost.com or tweet to @huffpostrelig using the hashtag #faithinspires.

This week's Faith Inspires highlights Faith For Change, an organization committed to brightening the future of children through education. Founded by Rev. Romal J. Tune, the coalition aims to connect public schools with well-resourced faith communities, empowering both and creating safe spaces for children to learn and grow.

"This isn't about promoting religion," Rev. Tune said. "It's about people of faith being compelled to do something."

So, is the church saving souls and losing students? Through its programs -- like the Graduation Ministry, which is run in the spirit of dropout prevention -- Faith For Change wants to ensure that neither the soul nor the student is lost.

And there is hope. Rev. Tune is particularly inspired by one verse from Scripture, found in Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

HuffPost Religion applauds the good works of Faith For Change. You can follow them on Twitter and donate to the Graduation Ministry.

Now, we want to hear from you! Who's making a positive impact in your community? Let us know by sending an e-mail to religion@huffingtonpost.com or tweeting to @huffpostrelig with the hashtag #faithinspires.
