The Mega Millions winning numbers were announced Friday evening, March 30, 2012.

If you have these Mega Millions winning numbers, you are now at least a part owner of the biggest jackpot ever, estimated at $640 million.

Just hours before the drawing, a Mega Millions spokesperson said there was a 95% chance someone would win the jackpot tonight based on all the combinations sold.

Take a deep breath.

The winning numbers for Mega Millions tonight, March 30, are as follows:

I suppose there's no point in asking how a lottery drawing from three days ago is "week old news".

I didn't play but let me just ask all of the "mad" people a question? Did you really think you'd win simply because you spent your entire paycheck on a hundred numbers? Or better yet, did you think everyone in the 42 participating states who used their anniversary dates or birthday combinations would get the top prize? Look at it this way, most of you actually did win something, some common sense. lol

People act shocked that others spend money on these things. You mean to tell me you don't wastefully toss ANYTHING away, which in essence cost money? The only reason you complain about EVERYTHING everyone else in the country is doing is because you can't solve your own problems, so you like to act as if others have severe complications, and you're their savior. People need to live their own lives, instead of living vicariously through society and the government.

cmon folks stop whining about the amount of money spent on this drawing, or blathering about taxes and welfare and junk. americans only care about getting rich, which is why we gamble. thats all there is to it

Gambling brought us the Wall Street crash, and lotteries are taxes on the mathematically challenged.

It is what it is. 1/2 the money is kept, and 1/2 is paid out as a prize.

TV stations had all kinds of 'news' regarding this historic lottery amount last week.

This Monday, all I wanted to see was a single news article emphasizing, "In other news, the Mega Millions had a record amount of LOSERS this weekend, with approximately 1 billion players coming out behind."

Which news outlet will be the first to take that fair and balanced approach and fill in that statement with the real number?

The American Mega Millions lotto had one billion losers? That would mean every one in the states bought 3 tickets and every combo lost. Infact I don't even know if there are a billion combinations of numbers. Everyone is on the same page though, when people say the phrase "Its as likely as winning the lotto" its because of a cultural understanding that you are basically throwing your money away.

Yes, there are more than a billion combination of numbers...close to 19 billion. If you stacked the tickets sideways like a deck of cards, with one number on each ticket, the stack would stretch from Portland to San Diego.

And only one of those tickets, stacked for 1000 miles, would have the winning number on it.

On the news they said you were more likely to be killed by a vending machine than to win that lottery ticket. That would be really weird if the winner was somehow killed by a vending machine! (knock on wood)

Lotteries are taxes on people who can't (or won't) do math.

No, it is entertainment because it isn't imposed. People don't have to play, but they do have to pay taxes.
