'Touch': Arther Says The Numbers Represent Pain For Jake

It was another installment of intersecting stories and lives coming together so that everything works out all right for everyone. And it all started with a series of numbers and Martin, once again, desperately trying to communicate with his son on "Touch" (Thu., 9 p.m. ET on Fox). Kiefer Sutherland continues to show a more tender side, but displays some of that Jack Bauer determination when trying to figure out what to do.

Like "Person of Interest," "Touch" is about the numbers that define people, and sees its protagonist trying to change and/or save lives with nothing more than the numbers to go on. Maybe Jake is the one really spitting the numbers out to Finch and Reese!

This week, Martin consulted with Arthur, who seems to know a little bit about the numbers and how they connect with the universe, and with Jake in particular. He explained that when something is off or out of order, it actually causes pain for Jake. The numbers are how he reaches out to try and fix things, with Martin out there doing the things he can't do. But how long can this simple premise be all that sustains the show?

Arthur suggested that others will become aware of what Jake is doing. Not to mention, the fun-loving Asian girls who've made fleeting appearances in every episode, maintaining their own connection so far to every "case" Martin has tackled. Like the Observers on "Fringe," it seems likely there's more to them than the audience has yet seen.

Find out how it all connects as "Touch" continues Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
