On the same day the team held its spring game, LSU picked up a commitment from the son of an NBA Hall of Famer.

The newest member of the team's Class of 2013 is offensive guard Karl Malone Jr., the son of former Utah Jazz star Karl Malone. Malone Jr. told head coach Les Miles and his staff of his decision after Saturday's spring game.

The 6-4, 290-pounder out of Cedar Creek School in Ruston, La., was one of many recruits on hand to see the Tigers close out spring drills. And as many current LSU players will admit, it's tough to say no to a school with such a rich history and winning track record.

Malone Jr. is the eighth overall commitment for LSU's 2013 class and its second along the offensive line. Malone Jr.'s half-brother is Demetrius Bell, a free agent defensive end who most recently played for the Buffalo Bills.

This hapless Vol fan still believes John Chavis is the greatest defensive coach ever. Maybe he can put Karl Jr. on the other side of the ball and get a 7th straight title for the SEC.

I'm sorry but a 6'4'', 290-pound person is not going to be able to play guard.

why not include a picture of Karl Malone Jr instead of his father? Anyone attracted to this story already knows what Karl senior looks like.
