Tamia Takes Credit For Her Children's Athletic Gifts: Love Of The Game

In our weekly "Love Of The Game" series, HuffPost Black Voices talks sports with a person of note. This week we caught up with singer-songwriter Tamia, as she revealed how her children with Grant Hill inherited their athletic gifts.

“Our kids are now playing sports, and so any athleticism they have I’m always like, ‘they get that from me. Oh they play softball, Grant [Hill], I was an amazing softball player. Oh they play soccer, Grant, I was an amazing soccer player.’ And he gets so irritated. He’s like, ‘look, take the credit for their music, but any athletic gifts that they have, they’re from me!’ So I’m now in the process of digging up old tapes of me actually playing sports, because he doesn’t believe it [Laughs].“

My son is quite athletic, but I tend to talk about about his academic and intellectual achievements.

One is a 16 year professional athlete and one isn't, never was and never will be.

I think we know how has the gene and who doesn't. I can appreciate the attempt to pander to a women in the "women are better than men" debate.
