While most people are open and honest with friends, family and other close confidants, some bits of information just aren't meant to be shared with the world. Still, apparently some people just can't help themselves.
Happy Place has unearthed some of the most startling, gruesome and stomach-turning Facebook status updates ever, ranging from incredibly embarrassing or revealing to sometimes depressing confessions.

It's possible these posts are just examples of people trying to tell jokes, but being a bit too convincing. Or perhaps a "friend" noticed they were logged into Facebook and saw an opportunity to hijack their account. And while there are a few that are clearly simple spelling mistakes, some have the unmistakable stench of shameful truth.
It's worth pointing out that not all Facebook confessions have to be this terrible. Some, like one Facebook challenge that asked users to name their greatest fears and nightmares, can actually be somewhat cathartic.
