Nancy Pelosi: Hillary Clinton Should Run For President In 2016

The Huffington Post  |  By Posted: 04/ 2/2012 10:39 pm Updated: 04/ 3/2012 12:50 am

Though the 2012 presidential election is months away, a growing number of public figures have in recent weeks thrown their support behind a Hillary Clinton candidacy in 2016. Add Nancy Pelosi's name to that list.

Pelosi was in New York for a Q&A session with veteran journalist Jeff Greenfield on Sunday, when she was asked what she thought about speculation that Clinton might replace Joe Biden as vice president on President Barack Obama's 2012 ticket. Rather than answer the question directly, Pelosi stated that, "I would love to see Secretary Clinton become the nominee for president in 2016," before gushing about the job Clinton has done as the nation's top diplomat.

When asked again by Greenfield what she thought about the 2012 rumors, Pelosi explained:

I don't think this ticket is going to change. I think the president and vice president have worked very well together. Joe Biden is a great guy, enjoys his own popularity in the country. I dont think that's going to happen. I do think, though, the secretary should entertain the thought of running in 2016.

Clinton, who has already indicated that she will step down from her cabinet post following this year's election, has insisted on several occasions that she has no plans to run for president again. (She lost the Democratic presidential nomination to Obama in 2008.) In an interview with MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell that aired Monday, Clinton said:

I want to do the best job I can as the secretary of state for this president. I want to then take some time to get reconnected to, you know, the stuff that makes life worth living, you know, family, friends, the sort of activities that I enjoy. And I'll do some writing and some speaking, and I'm sure I'll be continuing to advocate on these issues.

None of this has stopped a variety of politicians and media figures from encouraging a run. In recent weeks, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), senior White House advisor David Plouffe, and former New York Mayor Ed Koch have all voiced support for a 2016 Clinton run. Even Donald Trump has jumped on board the Hillary bandwagon.

Former President Bill Clinton, meanwhile, stated during a "Good Morning America" interview on Monday that he would be "happy" if his wife decided to run for president again. He added, however, that he believes her when she says she has no interest in the prospect.

Though Hillary d o e s have leadership quality, she also has proven to a be a willing and total s l a v e to her slavedrivers (the global corporations and the BANKSTER CARTEL that have hijacked the US government..as well as NATO and the UN).Unless she decides to break loose from the crimecartel that controls the US government .To free herself from the crimecartel will be difficult, as she probably has established some friendly personal relations with her slavedrivers. Before the whip comes down, I therefore recommend Hillary to clean her lymphatic system, loose 30 pounds and take it easy for a while...with a cleansed body and her beauty back, she will have a clearer picture of what kind of a quagmire she got involved with...I always wish her all the best only...but running for president doesn't seem a good idea to me after all her years of compromised slavehood...

Hilary Clinton has made her mark as Secretary of State...she has established the US as once again the Super Power with a conscience and a democratic vision and purpose. I am once again proud to be an American when I travel.

She would be in a stronger position to win in2016 than she was in 2008. I would vote for her.

I've actually responded to the last three emailers I got with Nancy Pelosi's name on them, asking her to resign for disgraceful role in the 2008 democratic presidential race. Like the slickest of politicians, perhaps others besides myself responded negatively to Pelosi's appeal for donations and this is how she responds.

Resign, please Pelosi, the sooner the better. Your sixty minutes lying moment will live on, your receipt of Visa IPO in exchange for delaying the credit card reform act by a year will as well, as was not stepping when Obama was collecting millions of dollars in fraudulently identified credit card donors. http://www.alessandromachi.blogspot.com/2011/04/barack-obama-and-unpaid-credit-card.html

Your hogging of Gifford's first signs of recovery was one of the most selfish acts I can ever recall. You are a dangerous joke.

Actually, I think Pelosi has done a very good job in the House. She has worked against huge odds and a national campaign by the right to discredit her. Strong women are something men should get used to in politics and elsewhere.

She has done a great job of alienating the American people which is why she is the minority leader now.

I second Pelosi's motion but don't blame Hillary for not wanting to join the Circus anytime soon. The current Election process has been so reprehensible I, and many others, have been so sickened by it that it will be hard to recover in time for the 2016 go-around unless drastic changes are made (e.g., NO SUPER-PACS, public financing assistance only, etc.). Her age is immaterial; however, even if she becomes partially senile she'll have more moxie than the rest of the Candidates combined.

Unless MSNBC goes through a complete upheaval, or a third cable channel that supports moderate liberal policies is created, she shouldn't run.

Perhaps -- except that still wouldn't stop the far-right fanatics from having their say and the low level of political discourse in general. BTW, MSNBC at least sticks to the facts, and usually have dissenting opinions (Scarborough, Steele, etc.) at least voiced on the majority of their opinion shows. "Meet the Press" is especially good in this regard.

Your Freudian slip is showing: Our current "Demon-cratic" Prez has had her unqualified support, and her Democratic principles are still intact, thank you very much. And please don't attribute words to her that are not accurate -- she NEVER said it would be "not worth living" or any such nonsensical rabble as you have proposed.
