Student Posts Video Of Cat Literally Eating Their Homework (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post  |  By Posted: 04/ 3/2012 3:21 pm Updated: 04/ 3/2012 3:21 pm

Cat Rips Homework

It's the oldest excuse in the book (though we wonder who the original user could have been) but in this student's case, there may be some legitimacy.

Reddit user kittymonzo posted a YouTube video of her cat viciously mauling what is identified as the owner's homework assignment on the kitchen counter. Okay, so maybe not viciously, but the feline is certainly going to town on that piece of paper.

Which begs the question -- why didn't she (we're assuming the user is female based on the laugh in the video) just grab the paper away from the kitty?

It seems we weren't the only ones with the thought, as user MotorcycleCK asked the same thing.

"But didn't the teacher ask why you didn't put the camera down and prevent the cat from eating your homework," the user commented.

"It was a print-out of a NY Times crossword for extra credit," kittymonzo responded. "He didn't care much and actually laughed at the video."

Well, at least she didn't get in trouble!

Beautiful cat. I hope he/she doesn't get sick. The cat looks well cared for. Is the cat on the kitchen counter?

I have a cat with a paper fetish too. I actually did have to write a note once to my son's teacher explaining that we woke up to find his homework paper half-consumed. I have some papers at work bearing suspicious teeth marks in the corners. I suspect the filmer let the attack continue to prove that the cat actually does this so that next time she's believed (and probably to justify past attacks). Well done!

Well, you know, back on February 2, as Odie was wearing sunglasses and a sly smile while counting money, Garfield concluded that cats need to figure out a way to get a piece of the homework eating racket. Now it appears that they have.

My son's cat got upset with him once for paying attention to his homework and ignoring the kitty and shredded his homework assignment with his claw. One swipe and the homework was gone. I told my son to give the teacher the shreds so she could see he really had done it, only now it was in several pieces. He sure did love that cat, though.

Come on.... That's what cats do. We have a sign in our kitchen that reads: In this kitchen cat fur is a condiment!

Ours knows better, a super soaker is a powerful incentive to stay off the counter.

My cat does not eat paper but she is very fond of helping me type by lying on top of the keyboard.

Great video!
We brought the bunny into the house one rainy night and she ate my son's homework. Only scraps were left.

He chose to go into class the next day and tell the teacher that he "didn't do it". Apparently it felt safer to to accept the consequences of "not doing the work" rather than say " my rabbit ate my homework" and get laughed at by the entire class....

bunnies are the ultimate shredders! def have learned never to leave paper products lying around unless i want a decorative edge added on. i love that you interjected this here

I know that decorative edge well. Those ragged little semi-circles!

We had to cover every wire in the house too - she went through a few lamp cords in her younger days.

Bunnies usually shred my green bean plants every spring. Now I plant some for them and some for me. Some years they eat both.

We just plant herbs, but around here it's the thyme and cilantro that get raided.
We just have the one bunny, but she's extremely diligent!

My cat did this once. I think my cat wanted my attention, since I had been giving it all to my homework. Before I knew it, she suddenly grabbed my homework paper in her front and rear claws, bunched it into a ball with her hind feet, and aggressively bit one quarter of the paper off. She didn't eat it. She just bit it to shreds. I couldn't believe it and at the time I certainly couldn't go back into school with that excuse. So I had no choice but to redo the homework. But forever after, I made sure to take breaks and give her some attention, so this would never happen again.

I made the mistake of leaving my lesson plan out on the kitchen counter one night...the next morning I came in to find it shredded by the kitty...I never made that mistake again!

looks like the cat was interested in having some kleenex to polish it off
