NEW YORK — New York City officials say the boom of a crane at a subway construction site came off and crashed to the ground, killing one person and injuring four others.
Authorities say a man was pronounced dead after the accident Tuesday at the Manhattan construction site. Another person was hospitalized and three others were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
A Fire Department spokesman says an 80-foot section and a 40-foot section from the crane fell Tuesday evening at the construction site for the No. 7 line subway line extension. The cause of the accident was under investigation.
After the accident, a construction laborer collapsed into the arms of another.
