Shark Attack
Joshua Holley, 28, was bitten by what he believes to be a tiger shark (not pictured) on April 3.

HONOLULU — A 28-year-old surfer suffered injuries on his left foot after he says a 10-foot-shark bit him off Oahu's North Shore.

Joshua Holley was paddling Tuesday when he felt something on his foot.

Honolulu lifeguard operations chief Jim Howe tells the Honolulu Star-Advertiser () the shark came up to Holley, bit him and let go, and then bit him again. http://bit.ly/HRHflZ

He says Holley fought off the shark with his surf board and got a good look at it. Holley believes it was a tiger shark.

Howe tells Hawaii News Now () Holley was treated on the beach before being taken to Wahiawa General Hospital. http://bit.ly/Hfebr9

Holley is due to have minor surgery Wednesday.

Ocean safety officials are warning people to stay out of the water in the area where the attack happened. Warning signs have been posted at several North Shore beaches.

Thats it. I'm going to go around punching sharks. If that is how you earn their respect, then I have to do whatever is necessary. I don't think the beginning part about leaving the water was really news to anyone.

Why does the shark in the photo look terribly fake?

The video "What to in the event of a shark attack"
."If you get attacked by a shark of course you want to exit the water as quickly as possible"
Does anyone really need to be told this?

He's lucky the shark wasn't hungry. Tiger sharks usually finish off whatever they start with. It must have been just curious.

I've been a scuba diver for 33 years and have dove with hundreds of sharks in the wild. They may get curious but when they see you are not food, they swim away. If you look like food floating around on the surface, they may take a bite but will usually spit you out when they realize you're not what they thought you were.
Having said that, If you do get eaten by a shark I would be willing to apologise to your next-of-kin.

wtf is this
It depends.

That'll make me feel better as they spit out my leg. Knowing it was a misguided bite.

You are in the sharks domain, so the shark he the right of way............Stay out of the water and you won't get bitten or eaten..
