He now spends his time playing action heroes and man-wolves, but "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner wasn't always among Hollywood's leading men.
Back in 2005, he was the star of "The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D". His audition blew away Robert Rodriguez ("Spy Kids"), the film's director.
"This kid was just from another planet," Rodriguez said half a decade later. "He was just so good, so physical, standing on one hand."
Though Lautner was the first boy to try out for the part, Rodriquez decided to end the auditions without seeing another actor.
Since nothing dies on the internet, HuffPost Entertainment has included Lautner's pre-teen audition in the slideshow below. Also included are early looks and screen tests from Madonna, Russell Crowe, Sandra Bullock, Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, Lea Michele, and an awfully adorable Lindsay Lohan. We've also added a couple of bonus screen tests from classic films for your enjoyment.
Take a spin through the gallery of premature nostalgia and tell us which tape was your favorite.
