Darrell Issa Howard Berman

Los Angeles Times:

Rep. Howard Berman, who is locked in a pitched reelection battle with fellow liberal Democratic Rep. Brad Sherman, likes to say he can work with Republicans to get things done. But even he may have been surprised when a conservative GOP colleague offered him some effusive support recently.

"I don't tell people to vote for Democrats," Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Vista) told an audience at the Beverly Hills Hotel. "If there were a good Republican in the race, I wouldn't tell you to vote for Howard, probably.

In California, they have an open primary where people can cast ballots across party lines. Mr. Berman's opponent Brad Sherman has been endorsed by several Republicans who worked in the Reagan administration and also a couple of local right wing elected officials. Berman now has Issa to even it out. However, both campaigns are reaching out to Republican endorsers and voters which seems strange given their politics. It's one of the weird byproducts of the system. Three Republicans filed, but they were all eccentric to put it mildly and none could win in this very liberal district. The reason Issa endorsed Berman is that they worked together on patent protection earlier this year. Actually though, in spite of their endorsements by Republicans, both Democrats are regarded as very good progressives and receive 100% ratings from virtually every progressive organization. It will be interesting to see how they campaign to reach voters on the other side.

I would listen to Judas's advice before this crook-Issa.

This is like Judas telling you Peter is better than Jesus.

They know that the republican brand is damaged, so they have to run as democrats.
Anyway to get to the end result, a party of do nothing for the people, only corporations!

Issa is a partisan wealthy hack. There is a motive for everything he does. Somehow this endorsement will serve his purposes. Integrity is not one of his personality traits!

Ok, just for a point of reference: do you think the R's are planning to have people run as Dems who are more R's at heart (like Ben Nelson, etc.)? Is that their game plan?

Interesting dilemma.........

Is this a cynical attempt by Mr. Issa to destroy Mr. Berman's chances for re-election?

Issa HAS to know that HIS endorsement isn't exactly an asset for a Democrat...........right?
