Harry Reid's Wife, Landra, Recovering From Breast Cancer, Chemotherapy

LAS VEGAS — The wife of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is recovering from stage 2 breast cancer and chemotherapy.

Reid said in Las Vegas this week that his wife, Landra, had six more weeks of radiation to finish her treatment.

Reid notes that he hadn't visited Nevada often since he announced in September 2011 that his wife was diagnosed with cancer and was receiving chemotherapy in Washington, D.C.

He says he returned to his home state this week while the Senate is on Easter break because his wife was "doing really well." He says he would be "coming home more" because of her improvement.

During his wife's cancer treatment, Reid oversaw major policy debates in the Senate on health care, taxes and the federal budget.

Landra and Harry Reid wed in 1959.

I commend Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and his wife for their commitment to the people and the party. So happy to hear Mrs. Reid is improving. This was undoubtedly one of Senator Reid’s moments that were more challenging after learning of his wife’s illness and in addition to having to deal with a rabid congress simultaneously. I guess you missed the outpouring of good wishes here for Dick Cheney when he had his recent heart transplant. Maybe you should take a look since it wasn't too long ago and then maybe you should resolve not to be so judgemental.

I sincerely wish Landra Reid all the best with hopes for her full recovery and many more years of life. It must be wonderful to know that even though you have a major life-threatening medical problem, you have NO WORRIES about your financial ability to pay for and have access to the best medical care American tax-payers can provide for you. Sadly, multitudes of the very tax-payers who are providing Landra with such excellent medical treatment themselves lack access to such care. It must be wonderful to be a member of American Royalty - the US Congress. Happy Easter, Landra!
