Of course this crap isn't dead. This is the Jason Voorhees of legislation. It was earlier called COICA. When that got axed, they jiggered it into SOPA. The Senate made an even worse version called PIPA.
CISPA is the next iteration of this "anti-Napster" legislation. Of course, now that Napster is irrelevant, the current target is torrenting, with FTP sites like Megauploads (among others) being a close second.
The REAL media piracy is done in CHINA a country that respects no copyright and patent laws other than its own, despite having signed a treaty to do so as a prerequisite for entry into the WTO. It used to be Indonesia, Malaysia and Taiwan, but the CHICOMs took over 90% of the "industry" back in the mid-1990s.

If it tries to rear it ugly head again, complaints from influential web sites like Wikipedia, Reddit, not to mention news being spread around on social media sites, will end the idea all over again. Anything like SOPA and PIPA are direct violations of the First Amendment, since it would get the US government directly involved in what is allowed on the Internet.

CISPA is actually worse. It deputizes all ISPs into a de facto NetForce, to only enforce copyrights because movie companies are going broke, after all.
Oh, wait. That can't be right. Where are they getting the money for all of the lobbying they're doing to cram this crap down our throats?

I don't think it'll get reworked because we're getting closer to elections, SOPA was never popular, and this is a year where politicians are trying to tap into voter anger as a means of distracting us from the fact that they have no ideas.

I wish I could go and not vote for Chris Dodd. I hope the people in Conneticut are paying attention to how corrupt he is and give him the boot. He has become one of the leading examples of the worst thing that can happen to a politician, being bought and paid for by the highest bidder.

I remember paying $16 for a cd with about 12 songs, that cost $2 to make and distribute. Now we pay between $1 and $1.25 for a song that costs almost zero to make and distribute. The artists aren't making any more money. The extra money is going into their campaign to destroy the Internet.

Dirty Little Secret: recording artists make almost no money from album sales. The system is rigged that way. The money comes from touring, merchandising and selling rights for commercials and movies.

Isn't it bad enough that your new TV and/or Blueray/DVD player rats you out when you play something?

Enough is enough!

I used to like Chris Dodd. Now he is the enemy. A shill for the RIAA and Hollywood studios, who want to destroy the internet so they can sell overpriced CDs and DVDs instead of evolving like the rest of the world. This makes me question everything he ever did.

I agree on Dodd.
