Brian White left disturbing messages on his Facebook page before killing his ex's mom and boyfriend, cops say.

The Livonia teen who police say brutally attacked and killed his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend, her mom and then himself left a series of haunting messages on his Facebook page in the weeks leading up to the massacre.

Brian Douglas White, 19, entered the home of his 17-year-old ex wielding an axe on Wednesday and killed the girl's mother, Angela Staperfene and the girl's current boyfriend, 19-year-old Jacob Burns, while they slept, according to Fox affiliate WJBK-TV.

The station obtained disturbing messages that White left on his Facebook page in the weeks before, including apparent references to the gory thriller "American Psycho" and lyrics by the bands Gotye and Blue October.

"You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness," White wrote on his page, which has since been taken down.

"What a polite murderer," the station quoted him as writing on March 27.

On March 29, he reportedly wrote, "And with a sad heart I say bye to you and wave, kicking shadows on the street for every mistake that I had made."

The 17-year-old girl sustained injuries but made it out of the house that morning to call 911. Friends of hers said that she broke up with White because he "was controlling," the Detroit News reported.

The Livonia community is rallying around the girl and her slain boyfriend, Burns, who was described as a standout athlete at Livonia Stevenson High School.

"From a very young age, he put a smile on everybody's face and it never stopped," said Robert Burns, the victim's father. "Everybody he met was a friend."

This family apparently didn't believe in having a gun in the house for protection, bet the survivors rushed out to buy one afterwards. You never think these kind of things could happen to you until it does.

Assumes facts not in evidence, they could have had a gun but it was in a closet or drawer put away.

If anyone knew how to use a gun in that house and had one in possession I know for a fact that's the first thing they would have went for. One in the head and one in the heart, just like every single gun owner knows.

Well if you would of read further no gun would of saved them anyway they were asleep when axed to death, he got through their garage, and I bet he was told the code when he was the boyfriend, and they never changed it. I dont believe that they had a gun lying around, I believe that boy brought it with him and had intentions on killing himself,

What's the use of having a gun in the house if it's not easily accessible at your most vulnerable time, at night when you're asleep. So a kid came in the house, walked in and started chopping away but no one could get the gun under the mattress, or in the night stand...keep looking for that unicorn of yours.

This is why you need to have a shotgun in your house---especially if you're woman living alone or w/ a daughter. Where are the men in this world? A man would've killed any psycho trying to hurt his daughter. This generation of deadbeat dads and single moms has got to go. America needs more men who are ARMED and ready to protect their families!

Killing seems to be the way to mend a broken heart or deal with personal problems these days. At 19 is life really that bad after a break up? You still have your whole life ahead of you to meet someone new. Get depressed, cry, bang your feet and fists on the floor, heck get raging drunk, but don't kill people. What does that solve? I don't get it.

It all depends on the individual. If this was a case of a young man who was a control freak, which can be a mental issue, then his inability to not be able to control his ex-gf could easily push him over the edge.

Ahhh that was to end his life not in his killings. There is a difference. I don't think many would complain at how "he" ended his life.

I dont know, they might be able to with the video games nowadays like Call of Duty, games are violent now, and really put the kids in real life-like form, our past video games were all character games like Pac man and Donkey kong and were fun now they are graphic and violent!

When are we collectively as a country, going to go public to address the root problem for these crimes, where our 'everyday citizens' more and more, are going on murdering and killing rampages. This is an epidemic.

Does anybody else see a symbolism here: Not to make a joke out of it(This is a TERRIBLE thing to happen)but they live on Sunnydale. In this world, the vampires are actually selfish jackasses(human).

It's called the despair of poverty and hopelessness.
03:17 PM on 04/08/2012
In this particular case, I think it is called the selfishness of one person who thinks that he should own another, and when thwarted of that ownership, kills. This is NOT despair over poverty and hopelessness except as a poverty of moral fiber.

It's an increasingly violent time that we live in. The rhetoric that flies around all over the place, the hatred that our parties are showing for each other, the angst and stress over economic problems...not to mention the increasing number of violent references used by politcal candidates and media buffs is driving the whole country crazy. It's like there's nothing we can do to stop it anymore.

might it be that the violence being dished out to civilians of other countries as they go about their daily affairs is coming home to roost??

Parents need to be more involved with their kids, when my son, and his girlfriend broke up, I watched him for a while to make sure he was dealing with it okay, and and watching for signs of depression, thank god he bounced right back, but if I noticed changes in him, you better believe, I would of been there to help him every step of the way!

What a shame. Such a waste of young lives for nothing. Unrequited love is no reason to kill yourself and others. You can love again quite easily if you want to. But young people have a tendency to believe there's no tomorrow and that is too sad.
