Bill Martin, a curious 17-year-old, and his friend, Jon Curtis, discoverd that a combination of bacteria and parasitic worms not only made some wounded Civil War soldiers glow in the dark, but it also saved some of their lives.

Thanks to a winning combination of bacteria and parasitic worms, some soldiers wounded at the Battle of Shiloh started to glow in the dark -- and it saved their lives.
