Heidi Klum Divorce: Model Files To Divorce Seal

Heidi Klum and Seal are making their split official.

According to People magazine, the supermodel filed for divorce Friday afternoon, three months after the star couple announced their separation. They were married for seven years.

In late January, the pair issued a joint statement about their split: "While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul searching we have decided to separate. We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition. We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children's sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy."

According to TMZ, Klum cited "irreconcilable differences" in the divorce filing and requested joint custody of the couple's four kids, though she's asking for primary physical custody (Seal would have visitation rights).

The former couple also reportedly have a post-nup, so there is no property that needs to be divided.

Both Klum and Seal have spoken publicly about the split. Almost immediately following the announcement, Seal told Ellen Degeneres: "You just grow apart after a while, and you try, and you work through it, and the thing you quickly realize when you're married and when you become a parent is that you do the best you can."

Klum remained tight-lipped on the separation until March, when she told Elle magazine that "every couple goes through things. Unfortunately, we’re in the public, so the highs are out there. But I don’t think it’s necessary -- especially for our children -- to have the lows being printed in magazines and talked about.”

Seal and Klum married in 2005 and have four children together, including the supermodel's daughter from a previous relationship.

Really folks, these two "adults" renewed nuptials on a yearly basis. They were so busy behaving like children and living the jet set lifestyle I doubt very much they ever really got to know each other outside of the physical attraction. I wonder if they've ever done any work on themselves. Well Klum is an "aging " beauty and Seal an obscure recording artist who is about to become more obscure. Au revoir you bores.

Not much hope? I think most of us are willing to stick to our commitment and try to "work through" the tough times, the boring times, the times when you just want to walk away, the times when the reality of your life doesn't meeting your fairy tale dreams. And get back to the happy times, the good times and the times when you appreciate the happiness your relationship can bring to you and your family.

If you think you can spend an entire lifetime with someone and not "grow apart" then it would be wiser not to get married. I think that marriages that survive are those in which the couple is devoted and commited to work through issues DESPITE what they sometimes feel. If I gave up on my marriage every time I "felt" like I hated him or didn't love him anymore I would have been divorced many times over. I have felt that way at times- but decided to be commited to spending some time and really work on our marriage and I'm thankful every day that after 20 years I still have my first love! I could see how a verbally or physically abusive marriage can seem hopeless, but when people divorce because they've "grown apart"? What a waste-

You are one of a few, considering the divorce rate. People do not honor vows anymore. I too can see divorce for reasons of abuse, but most marriages don't end for that reason, it's infidelity, selfishness and boredom. And it's always the children that suffer. Marriage has to be worked on--I commend you for your committment. I had the same relationship with my husband for 22 years until I lost him to cancer. And I would not trade a day of those years with him.

As we all knew, celebrity relationships are just as fraught and confused as everyone else's. Having said that, Heidi Klum is a beauty - one of those women who will age well and maintain her good looks. I especially like seeing her without make-up.

What a shame. They seemed so happy together. I doubt someone broke the contract. Having no insight I have to presume that either soneone got lazy, inflexible, overwrought (I don't know you any more), or worse case scenario it was phoney.
