The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reports that just after 1 p.m. on Friday a fire broke out near the Platte River Campground area in Pike National Forest in Jefferson County, north of Deckers at the 6800 block of highway 67.
The fire, which officials are calling the Platte River Fire, has only spread to four acres.
The National Weather Service issued red flag warnings for high fire danger for the area with winds at 25 to 35 mph with some gusts up to 50 mph.
According to U.S. Forest Service spokesman Steve Segin the fire is "very active," CBS4 reports. However, due to strong winds, the firefighters cannot receive aerial tanker support at this time.
No structures are have been burned.
