Resident Of Flint, Michigan, Wins $4.4 Million With Accidental Cash For Life Lottery Ticket

A simple mistake turned into a lifetime of wealth for one lucky person from Flint, Mich., when they won more than $4 million after buying the wrong lottery ticket, ABC News reports.

The winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, mistakenly bought a $20 Cash for Life lottery ticket at a machine in the TA-Saginaw Travel Center in Bridgeport, Mich.

"I didn't mean to put $20 into the lottery ticket machine, I thought I grabbed a $10. I had to buy something. I picked the $10 Cash for Life ticket because I only play $10 tickets -- it wasn't even what I wanted," the winner said in a press release.

The fortuitous error ended up snagging the grand prize, and turned the winner into a multi-millionaire, WNEM reports.

According to MLive.com, the Flint resident will be using the money to live debt free from bills and mortgage payments and is planning to share the wealth with family members.

The winning ticket entitles the winner to $4,000 a week for life. They have the option of receiving annual payments in the amount of $208,000 or a one-time lump sum payment of $4.4 million.

That's not too bad a result for an honest mistake.

This is the absolute best advertisement for the lottery and for the promotion of 'lifetime tickets" I could possibly imagine.
I can, (for the minor investment involved) see a day when everyone will have a few of these.
And the increasing desperation of this economy, our national debt and low employment prospects will help feed that fire.

Yep -- a friend of mine in New Jersey won three million on a scratcher and my good friend's neighbor (they lived in attached townhomes) won nearly $700,000 in the CA lotto 15 or so years ago. It definitely happens!!
