Animal Photos Of The Week

While the Easter bunny may be one of the cutest holiday animals around, his real life counterparts don't always have it so easy. According to some reports, as many as 80 percent of rabbits available for adoption were once Easter gifts.

Before adopting a rabbit as a pet, be sure to check out these facts about rabbits, and learn how you can help rabbits this season.

In other animal news, love isn't in the air for some animals this week. OR7, a lone wolf that has wandered over 2,000 miles between Oregon and Northern California since last september, has returned to California. Little does he know that he is the only gray wolf in the state and won't soon find a mate in California.

Yang Guang and Tian Tian, the Edinburgh Zoo's two pandas on loan from China, failed to produce offspring before a brief mating season ended this week. Despite meeting out of public view and encouragement from zookeepers, the animals did not successfully mate.

The tiger is beautiful. Beautiful is an understatement. Tigers photograph well no matter what they are doing. They are the Grand Canyon of animal photography.

Someone will have to explain to me why chimps and gorillas are supposedly so cute or beautiful. I don't get it. They should be protected, but they are far from beautiful.

Now the tiger, they are magnificent.

I think the great apes, which includes chimpanzees and gorillas, are beautiful because more than any other animal they remind us of ourselves, a natural response given our kinship.

I have seen all of these animals in the wild and they cannot and should not be compared.

They are all amazing and they are all gorgeous.

However, when you look into the eyes of a great ape, it is stunning because it is like looking into the eyes of family member.
