'LGBT Pride Month Champions of Change' Video Challenge Launched By White House

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community heroes will be honored by the White House as part of the official "Champions of Change" series.

The goal of the campaign, according to an email statement, is to "explore the stories of unsung heroes and local leaders who are leading our march towards a more perfect union."

From now until May 4, the White House is asking for "creative, innovative, and inspiring" video submissions, which will then by reviewed by a panel, who will select both finalists and semi-finalists.

Videos will be accepted in any form (including music video, PSA, short film, video blog, and interview) but must be no longer than 3 minutes. Essays no longer than 750 words will also be accepted if video production is not possible. Both essays and videos must be received by May. 4.

Officials will be seeking videos and essays focusing on storytelling (stories of coming out or overcoming adversity), culture & identity (interesting intersections with race, national origin, religion, and disability), unsung heroes (individuals and organizations that haven’t been recognized for their contributions), among other categories.
