'Lockout' First Five Minutes: Guy Pearce Being Sarcastic, Getting Punched, Chased (VIDEO)

WATCH: Guy Pearce Get Punched In 'Lockout' First Five Minutes

The first five minutes of "Lockout," the upcoming sci fi action adventure flick starring Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace hit the web over the weekend.

Judging by the clip, "Lockout" doesn't seem to take itself too seriously, with Guy Pearce as Snow making sarcastic quips and getting punched in the face for each verbal barb. That's followed by a rousing action sequence replete with a fight sequence, a death, a futuristic gunship and foot chase.

The cliche-ridden dialog (is this the '80s?) is another sign "Lockout" isn't gunning for any Oscars:

Serious sounding man: "There's only one man that can get her out."
Serious sounding man #2: "Who?"
Serious sounding man: "Snow. He's the best there is. But he's a loose cannon."

The official synopsis tells you all you need to know about the movie and why the above dialog works:

Set in the near future, "Lockout" follows a falsely convicted ex-government agent (Pearce), whose one chance at obtaining freedom lies in the dangerous mission of rescuing the President's daughter (Grace) from rioting convicts at an outer space maximum security prison.

In other words, expect a mashup of "Die Hard", "Escape From L.A.", "Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay" (the videogame), "5th Element" (Luc Besson is involved), with a little "Outland" thrown in for good measure.
