Raymond Jefferson, Suspected Radio Shack Robber, Found By Police Using Stolen GPS

Police had an easier time than usual hunting down a man suspected of robbing a South Side Radio Shack, thanks to a high-tech GPS unit that was taken from the store.

Among the $17,000 in electronics stolen from the W. 95th St. store Friday night were iPads, cell phones, Kindles and at least one GPS unit, which police activated remotely, leading them to the missing property and 20-year-old Raymond Jefferson, ABC Chicago reports.

According to the police report, three men entered the store and bound employees and customers with zip ties before collecting their cell phones and a bag full of merchandise, the Chicago Tribune reports. About two hours later, police intercepted Jefferson and the missing gear in Albany Park. A witness later identified Jefferson as one of the men involved in the robbery.

Jefferson has been charged with three counts of armed robbery and kidnapping, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. His bail was set Sunday at $350,000.
