Sierra LaMar's Parents Offer $10,000 Reward For Missing Teen's Safe Return

The Huffington Post  |  By Posted: 04/09/2012 5:52 pm Updated: 05/11/2012 3:11 pm

The family of Sierra LaMar, a missing teenager from Morgan Hill, Calif., is hoping that offering a $10,000 reward will lead to their daughter's safe return.

Steve Lamar's, the 15-year-old's father, said the family got the reward money through fundraisers and donations and that they hope it provides any additional incentive for anyone with information on his daughter's whereabouts.

"We're hoping it might give someone the motivation to come forward," Steve Lamar told the Contra Costa Times. "We're desperate for anything that can bring her home to us."

Sierra Lamar was last seen March 16 leaving her home for school around 7:15 a.m. to walk to a bus stop, CBS News reported. Police dogs searching for the girl lost her scent in the driveway of her home, but investigators have said that they think the high school sophomore was likely the victim of an acquaintance abduction.

Meanwhile, the search for her went on despite the Easter holiday. Thousands of volunteers searched areas of Santa Clara County for clues in Sierra's disappearance, including San Francisco 49ers Alex Smith, Joe Staley, Delanie Walker and Scott Tolzien, the San Jose Mercury-News reported.

The NFL stars made it clear they did not welcome the media attention, but Sierra's sister, Danielle, told the Contra Costa Times that they were grateful for the celebrity support.

"When those kinds of people get involved, it gives us a whole new audience," she said.

Anyone who has a daughter is terrified by stories like this, I know I am. I don't know what the answer is, it seems to be the world we live in now. I am thinking that part of the PE program at school should be self defense classes, starting at an early age. I pray for this poor girl and her family, they must be totally devastated.

Its almost like not enough money in the world
will make people come forward and tell what they know.
Im not trying too be mean or anything but. thats just how i feel.

i may be wrong. just stating my opinion.

someone knows something. for whatever reason they are too afraid. They really need 2 come forward
tell the police what they know, and give this family some type of answers.

Its been weeks. Sierra needs nd deserves too come home too her family.
Forever in my prayers

I find it interesting that the dogs stop at her driveway-but yet some of the evidence was not far from her bus stop-like a mile or so. I think thats what it said last time. So that leaves it confusing-if she was picked up at her driveway-was she then taken to her bus stop. Or was the evidence put there so it wouldn't be found that she was actually picked up at her driveway? If that was the case then it sounds like a neighbor-that passes her house everyday coming/going to work....but is it someone she felt she knew-or did they stop to asked directions and then grabbed her? She still at that age where she would talk to her friend about a guy-or write his name on her notebook-or look at his Facebook. But what I also find interesting is if she has been going to this bus stop all school year-why now? I don't know where did her phone ping from the last time it pinged-and at what time. I would also check with the kids on her bus and ask them if she has recently been missing mornings or afternoons being on the bus-.

SEX TRAFFIC .......... SAY BYE BYE '' $ 10,000.00 IS NOT EVEN 1/3 OF WHAT THEY GOT TO KIDNAP HER
02:49 PM on 04/10/2012
Only a miracle will bring this girl home. there are 20 to 30 serial killers across the USA working every day. Not to mention the sex slave trade which includes international abductions. Once a person is gone for 24 hours the chance of survival is less than 10%. Nasty stats but true.

Just last night my 13 year old daughter asked if her and her friend (who was sleeping over) could meet some neighborhood boys whom I know very well. But it was already 11pm. (no school today due to Spring/Easter Break). I said yes but they had to stay in the driveway and I slept on the couch downstairs so that I could hear them. She was allowed out there til 12. At 11:30 she asked if they could walk cuz they were cold and I told her "no, dress warmer." This is exactly the reason I said no. This young girl was just going to the bus stop in the MORNING! Talk about a scary world to raise kids in these days.

You're seriously letting you 13 year old daughter hang out with boys at 12 a.m?? I'm 24 and I think that's a HORRIBLE idea on your part! OMG! I guess you're trying to be the "cool mom" but when your daughter turns out 14 and pregnant you can't be too surprised right? I have no kids and have NEVER been pregnant so I guess I don't understand your logic.

oh and btw, I didn't sleep on the couch to protect my daughter from these boys.... I slept there to protect her from strangers! Had I heard a car stop or screaming or voices that I didn't recognize I would've been there immediately. And we live in a very good neighborhood and I still would not risk sleeping upstairs.

one more thing: Have you not ever noticed that the kids that are never allowed to go anywhere, do anything, date, wear make-up etc are usually the first to rebel and sneak out, do drugs, and have sex?
02:45 PM on 04/10/2012
I was 13 hanging out with boys til all hrs of the night and I did not get pregnant at 14. At least the teenager asked and didnt sneak out like most would if they were told no. I don't understand why everyone always wants to jump on a parent for making a decision they legally can. If you dont like that decision make a different one with your own children.

This has to be a parent's worse nightmare. I hope she will be found.

I don't think she was a runaway because she told a friend she was going to school, and she was a cheerleader. I think her mom's boyfriend knows more than he's saying. Her mom can't pinpoint what time he left the house that morning. I hope she is alive and is unharmed.

If she were any less cute, would it be any different or make the person less important?

Less exploitation and more empowerment to women

What a dumb remark. If she were plain, you wouldn't hope they would find her? Being cute shouldn't have anything to do with hope for her safety. Sheeeesh!!

Haven't you noticed even in murder cases how many times they say "oh, she was pretty, what a shame"... It's very telling about society and the attitudes towards females. Never mind what many men say (disgusting) about a girl or woman who just left the world in agony.

This happens daily & it's damn shame. Before jumping the gun, hopefully she did runaway then she realizes this is not the way to go. Checkout the pedos in the area, it's always a good start.
