White House Easter Egg Roll Book-Reading Shows Off Obama's 'Wild' Side (PHOTOS)

Posted: 04/ 9/2012 4:43 pm Updated: 04/ 9/2012 4:54 pm

The president is unleashing his wild side.

President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle welcomed spring with Monday's White House Easter Egg Roll, celebrating the warm weather with games and book-readings for kids.

Malia and Sasha took part in the activities, too, by taking turns reading from "A Sick Day for Amos McGee" by Philip C. Stead. But what caught our eye was the president's own ability to bring books to life with his colorful depiction of Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are."

Check out photos of the president's fun reading performance below. At a time when American high school students are reading books at the fifth grade level, could he inspire more of our youth to not only take up books, but more challenging ones?

I wish for once, the President would add an event for Passover since it's practically the exact same time as Easter. Why don't we find the affikomen? It kinda sucks as someone who's part of the Jewish faith to be just forgotten as if the religion/faith doesn't exist.

I'm not trying to bash the President at all rinman9. I'm merely saying, if we're going to have some major event that's obviously circulating around one religion, we need to do it for others. Easter Egg hunt, Affikomen hunt, Kwanza potluck at the White House or even break the fast for Ramadan at the White House. It's called equality.

EH? Looks like he enjoys being with kids. I'm waiting for the day some one in the White House gets to be honest about celebrating Eostra or Ostara. Someday I won't spend the day laughing at christian ministers bending over backwards trying to fit the bunny and eggs into the christian doctrine....
