Between the booty walking on TruTV's "The Wiener's Circle" and the controversy surrounding the filming of VH1's new Chicago-centric "Mob Wives," Chicago can't seem to pull itself out of the reality show spotlight as of late.
Soon, the city will also be at the center of "Chicagolicious," a new "salon docu-series" spin-off from the Style Network's "Jerseylicious."
The network announced last week that "Chicagolicious," focused on the Ajes salon, will premiere Sunday June 3 at 9 p.m. ET. The West Loop salon, owned by AJ Johnson, reportedly counts Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett and Iman among its clients.
"'Jerseylicious' has become appointment television for Style's passionate viewers, and with 'Chicagolicious,' we have found an eclectic set of characters, including the beautiful city of Chicago, to deliver a new twist and expand our top performing franchise series," Salaam Coleman Smith, president of the Style Network, said in a statement announcing the 10-episode series.
Chicago is in the midst of something of a reality show boom, as Chicagoist points out. VH1 recently debuted its premiere episode of "House of Consignment," which features the eDrop-off shop in the city's Lincoln Park neighborhood.
As no preview videos or publicity photos have yet been released from the series, the exact flavor of "Chicagolicious" the show's producers will be serving up remains a bit of a mystery. But if the original off which it is based is any indication, viewers best prepare for some drama.
