George Zimmerman Plea

First Posted: 04/11/2012 7:21 pm Updated: 04/11/2012 7:53 pm

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The attorney for neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman says his client will plead not guilty to second-degree murder in the shooting of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin.

Attorney Mark O'Mara asks that people not jump to conclusions about his client's guilt. He says he's "hoping that the community will calm down" now that charges have been filed and the case is moving forward.

ZImmerman has acknowedged shooting Martin but says it was in self-defense after the two got into a fight on Feb. 26.

The charge against ZImmerman was announced earlier Wednesday.

Hopefully Zimmerman serves the rest of his life in prison so that he does not contribute to a gene pool.

This very picture can be used as evidence that they just showed. He has no broken Nose and sign that he ever did. These are statements HE HIMSELF made. Looks like Daddy put the nail in his coffin.

SPECIAL PROSECUTOR Angela Corey asked the Martins what could she do, in the event that Zimmerman is found not guilty. I have a suggestion, how about the RETREAT AT TWIN LAKES.
If the Martins were to own it they could turn it into a place where Zimmerman would be F I R E D and the neighborhood watchman would not be able to carry a gun and would listen to the police when they said stand down and didn’t confuse those words with stand your ground.

OK, I just fanned you after going back and reading your previous posts. You always have something respectful to say, and that is refreshing.

Wow. Such intellegence in the postings here.
1) some logical people
2) some hate filled r*cists
3) Name calling children
4) Lovers of guns (more than the care for human life - except their own)

Yea - no wonder the USA loves Kim Kardashian. That is the type of news and dialogue that is important to much of the population represented in these comments.

jcobmusic....since when do we have to be intelligent just to post an opinion we have on these boards? If you want to read something intelligent you probably need to go to the library. These boards show a sampling of all the people we come in contact with daily in our lives. I think its good to read how others really feel so we can hopefully decide this is not how we want to be thinking. Maybe if we all try to post something that would make a positive influence on another reader.

Thank you. I hope that our population expands its knowledge so we have more people in the 1) some logical people category.

He’s narcissistic. He felt important enough to be the judge of who gets in or out of the little area he lives in. He probably identified with cops and thought he was really ā€œone of themā€ We haven’t heard much of his past to suggest he really had much going for him, being the neighborhood watchdog was it. When you add guns to the mix people like that suddenly feel important and powerful.

At the very least he is guilty of playing God, and who's to say that Trayvon Martin was only protecting himself at what he quite legitimately perceived to be the actual aggressor?

those who seek justice in this matter, namely the family of the victim, have gotten what they ultimately were asking for... which is a relief for those of us that have empathized with their plight. Just the fact that this will be in court, and a hearing of the facts will come out, is all that the family of Trayvon have wanted all along.

My ultimate hope is that Zimmerman will look these parents in the eye, and tell them about the last moments that their son was on this planet. It is what I would want if Trayvon was mine... just to know what the last moments of my child were like. I would want to know how much he suffered, and exactly how it all transpired.

I will trust the system, and I will trust that a jury can make a good decision in this case once they know all the facts... if Zimmerman decides that is how he wants to play it. If not, I hope that any plea that is offered will include Zimmerman facing up to these parents

The parents already know what his last few moments were like. If you raise a child you know how they react to certain situations. I think they know about Trayvon striking the the bus driver, stealing jewelry and his penchant for breaking into other peoples houses. They will not admit it, but, they know. They want revenge, thats what this is all about. Oh, did I mention the first thing they did was patent his name so they could profit from it.

"I think they know about Trayvon striking the the bus driver, stealing jewelry and his penchant for breaking into other peoples houses."

Please be so kind as to provide credible source citations for this preposterous libel. Oh, did I mention that a name cannot be patented?

Sergio... do you have children? No one is perfect. Teenagers do stuff and hopefully they can grow up and do better. I hope you are not saying this young man deserved to be killed. What about Mr. Zimmerman's past history with the law? I do not feel anyone wants revenge. The name belongs to his parents and they have the right to guard that name with a copywrite. Please.... what if this was someone you loved who got killed while just walking home from the store? BE KIND TO OTHERS

delighted to hear that Zimmerman has finally been charged despite the best efforts of the Sanford PD and its chief to let him of the hook. hopefully the prosecution will do its job and he will end up where he deserves!

Kilakhan......The jury will decide what happens to Mr. Zimmerman. It is by far the best system we have going in this country. We may not always agree with the verdict but its all we have. I am sure Mr. Zimmerman is scared. He did something wrong in the heat of the moment and now he will answer for it. Thats probably why we shouldn't allow everyone to carry weapons.... they are not mature enough to make wise decisions. That law was meant to protect your home and yourself if someone has a weapon and is using it against you first. I think they need to rewrite that law and put some rules in it.
