Mitt Romney: The General Election Campaign Started Yesterday

Mitt Romney took the equivalent of a victory lap during a Wednesday morning appearance on Fox News, at one point declaring triumphantly that the primary was now over.

"The campaign started yesterday, the general election campaign," Romney said.

The interview was largely news-less, with Romney repeating charges that President Barack Obama's economic policies have been bad for women and accusing his campaign of trying to veer from discussions of the issues by focusing attention on Romney's personal wealth.

But there was a subtle swagger (or relief) from the former governor that did stand out. He predicted that he and Sen. Rick Santorum would be campaigning together down the road and argued that "President Obama is one of the reasons our party will be so united."

Commenting on his vice president pick, Romney insisted that the search "has not begun yet but will probably begin pretty soon."
