Colin Powell's daughter is heading into politics ... on TV.
HuffPost TV can exclusively reveal that Linda Powell will appear in the first episode of "Political Animals," USA's upcoming six-hour mini-series. The former secretary of state's daughter will play the fictional Pauline Samson, the president's national security advisor.
On the upcoming series -- which loosely resembles Hillary Clinton's life -- Pauline is the only woman on the presidential staff besides the newly divorced former first lady and current Secretary of State Elaine Barrish (Sigourney Weaver).
Other actors on the series include "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" star Ciaran Hinds as Bud Hammond, the former president and Elaine's ex-husband; former "Entourage" star Carla Gugino as Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Susan Berg; former "Gossip Girl" actor Sebastian Stan as one of Elaine's twin sons, T.J.; "Shameless'" James Wolk as Elaine's other twin son, Doug, who is also her chief of staff; and Brittany Ishibashi ("Supernatural," "Parenthood") as Doug's fiancee, Anne.
Although Powell is stepping into new territory with "Political Animals," Powell has had her share of small-screen experience. The actress has also appeared on "Law & Order: SVU," "The Good Wife" and "Damages."
"Political Animals" will premiere this summer on USA.
