Bruce Davidson's 'Nature Of Los Angeles' Photography Depicts Freeways Commingling With Trees (VIDEO)

WATCH: LA Photographer Sees The Light

Los Angeles can feel like the black sheep of major cities. For many visitors, it's a strange, sunny place that's too spread out to master or comprehend.

That's why there's nothing more endearing than an LA convert. Dubbed the "renowned, unknown" photographer by the New York Times, Bruce Davidson says in the New Yorker video below that he didn't really know what he was doing in LA.

But once he was here, he understood. His ongoing black and white photography series, "Nature of Los Angeles," depicts his "vision of the … freeways commingling with trees. People don’t stop and look at how beautiful that 405 and the interchange is with these enormous wonderful trees. And underneath the 405, ivy was growing."

The man who became well-known first for his photography of New York and then of Paris said, "I've never been a photographer that likes sunshine." But now, like every other photographer in LA, he sees the light.
