Rielle Hunter, Cate Edwards May Testify In John Edwards Trial

DURHAM, N.C. -- The witness list for the John Edwards criminal trial includes dozens of names close to the former presidential candidate. Among them are his eldest daughter, staffers from his 2008 campaign and Rielle Hunter, the woman at the heart of the sex scandal that destroyed his political career.

The proposed lists of witnesses for the defense and prosecution were released late Thursday, following the start of jury selection for Edwards' federal trial in Greensboro, N.C.

The Democrat faces six counts related to nearly $1 million in secret payments from two campaign donors used to help hide the married candidate's pregnant mistress as he sought the White House.

As expected, former campaign aide Andrew Young is listed as a prosecution witness. Young handled the money for Hunter's care and falsely claimed paternity of Edwards' child.

Since she was supposedly some sort of Photographic aid for him. this would have been a perfect set-up probably to give him a good excuse to move her into the white house with them if he won the election. She probably forgot to take her pills to make sure she didn't get dumped if he won the election. Sick wife and children on one floor, mistress, personal photographer on the far end of another floor. Somehow, I have lost the concept of why it cost 1 million plus to hide her.

I'm enjoying reading these comments rating the cheating politicos along party lines.

Its about power and ego which is completely separate from one's political ideology.

Take two really bad football players on two different teams. (or basketball players or baseball players or whatever) and ask who's worse. No doubt the fans for each team will assume the player on the other team is worse!

Lets just say neither Edwards nor Gingrich behaved in a manner befitting a man of their status.

That FACT was that he already HAD a wife & children didn't seem to make a bit of difference to Edwards, did it? So it won't be the media's bringing it up so much as learning what their Father really was & is!
The fact that Edwards treated the supporters who believed in him as if they meant nothing should be exposed as you say, dvdsn61 - as a warning to all politician that they have a Fiduciary relationship with those who contribute to their campaign - that was NOT his money to misuse!
As a lawyer I'm sure he was well aware of that, so again - he didn't seem to care enough to treat their trust as a bond didn't make a difference to him, did it?

What a sleeze he was & is - parasite living off of others!
