Scott Walker Recall: Republican Challenger Says He's Not A 'Fake Republican'

Scott Walker Recall

Caledonia Patch:

Arthur Kohl-Riggs, a scruffy-haired 23-year-old political activist who used to serve pizza at the Children’s Museum in Madison until a few weeks ago, says he is not a "fake Republican."

But he's not a traditional Republican, either.

Kohl-Riggs is running against Gov. Scott Walker in the Republican primary after he collected and turned in more than 2,200 signatures to the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board this week. If the GAB, which oversees elections in Wisconsin, votes to allow him on the ballot, Kohl-Riggs will be Walker's sole opponent in the May 8 primary.

So, if he's not a Democrat or traditional Republican, what political flag does Kohl-Riggs fly?

He describes himself as a "progressive Republican," following the political lines of former Wisconsin Sen. Robert "Fighting Bob" La Follette and Abraham Lincoln.

And the reason Kohl-Riggs wants his name on the GOP ballot is because he wants to force Republicans to vote for Gov. Scott Walker in the primary instead of meddling in the Democratic primary, he said.

Of course he's a fake Republican candidate. The Dems just can't admit it because they want to pretend their hypocrisy isn't on full display.

Arthur is the real deal, and he rocks. Abe Lincoln ran for his first office at the same tender age

He could make a real difference. Hopefully the primary gives him an opening to make it as an underdog. It is not a very risky vote since it is not a general election.

Ain't gonna happen. The only question is how badly the Dems lose to Walker.

If Kohl Riggs wins the primary Walker is out of the race.

Yup... Since it really doesn't matter at this point who the democratic nominee is ...(most people in the state would vote for an old shoe over Walker) ... We could just let the republicans pick the new governor and we all vote for Riggs here.

Looks like the "old shoe" is trailing, but I love the overconfidence and desperation of the Dems:

Recall them all Wisconsin! The people of Wisconsin should be commended for the work they have already done to correct the mistakes of 2010. Good luck with the recalls and thank you for showing the rest of us that democracy and power of the people are not dead in America.

Well in a  Koch Brother state run world this guy wouldn't even be able to be on the ballot so at least WI has that going for it?

So...wait. What if all Dems voted for him (because they will mostly be happy with any Dem candidate) and all Reps. voted for Vinehout because she is the least popular candidate?

This is better than Survivor!

Mr. Kohl-Riggs meeting with legislators over redistricting last year. He looks like a young Abe Lincoln. He is also politically tuned into the state. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cg3CJBh2hjo

Sadly, Progressive Republicans are almost extinct except for the millions of them who changed their affiliation to Independent and Democrat. Why shouldn't they be able to reclaim their party, the party of Romney, Reagan and Rockefeller?

I think the Rockefellers were/are big into philanthropy.....I would love to see this...I am a Progressive Dem but I know that my state, WI, has a lot of history with Progressivism and it was the Republicans who led that. This will be very interesting.

Was Scotty born in the US? Did someone check his birth certificate? I've never seen one from him. I couldn't find his certificate on the net. What is he hiding? (sarcasm)

When ensconced within a terrarium, reptilicus can become quite accustomed to a regimen of regular feedings of rodents, insects, and other small animals. The feeding schedule should be regular, with uniform quantities. Remember the necessity of providing a warm basking surface to assist reptilicus' digestive needs, and never allow his waste products to build to unacceptable levels. Reptilicus is actually fairly sensitive.
