Six $1 Million Winning Lottery Tickets Sold At Same Louisiana Store

The Huffington Post  |  By Posted: 04/13/2012 2:11 pm

On the heels of the historic Mega Millions jackpot comes the story of another lottery oddity.

According to Louisiana Lottery officials, six different $1 million dollar lottery prizes were won from tickets sold at a gas station in Watson, just 90 miles from New Orleans.

WAFB Channel 9 reports that one man spent six dollars on three winning tickets by playing the same five numbers along with different mega-ball numbers followed by the "multiplier box." That brought his winnings from $250,000 to $1 million per ticket.

In another twist of fate, the machine accidentally spit out a second print out of those winning numbers, which were sold to another customer a couple of hours later.

So far, the first winner, a 52-year-old man claimed a total of $2.1 million after taxes. The second person has yet to come forward for to claim the $3 million jackpot winnings, reports Fox News.

According to the Louisiana Lottery, the owner of the gas station will receive a $60,000 bonus for selling the winning tickets.

This area has been so hard hit by tragedy, it is nice to see some local people get these winnings. Hopefully, some, or all of them will put some of their winnings back into the community.

Do you people even read the articles before you jump on the complain train!?! One man bought 3 tickets which HE picked the same 5 numbers with different megaball numbers for each of the three tickets. He selected megaplier so if those 5 numbers hit he would increase the winnings of each ticket from 250,000 to a million dollars. The lottery agent screwed up and printed out two sets of each of his three tickets. He only bought the three tickets he had asked for with the numbers he selected. So the lottery agent sold the mistakenly printed doubles to another customer. Do you u-n-d-e-r-s-t-a-n-d now? How is this fixed?

I thought it was too 'til I read the story-definitely not fixed, the guy just played intelligently and it helped him win big $! Good for him!!

Doesn't the first guy have a right to protect the Intellectual Property of "his" numbers.

It seems that he has a case for claiming the whole prize.

Compared to what?

No, he doesn't. I dreamed those numbers before he bought them! And in my dream, I registered them.
