WASHINGTON -- Tuesday's Space Shuttle Discovery flyover was amazing to humans who got to see it. At least one cat was appreciative of the display as well.
Hank, the 9-year-old former street cat vying for a Virginia seat in the U.S. Senate, posted a message about Discovery's flight over the nation's capital on his campaign Facebook page, along with a photo of the shuttle flying over the U.S. Capitol:
Thank you to all of the NASA employees, contractors, and everyone who made the Shuttle possible.
One of Hank's Facebook friends responded by asking the cat candidate for a political favor:
Hank, when you get to the Senate, please double our (NASA's) budget to 1%. We'd be very grateful.
The frontrunning feline also released his tax returns on Facebook, with a message about transparency:
In the interest of total disclosure and complete transparency, I am attaching my tax returns to show that I am not falsifying who I claim to be - I am your humble candidate with big ideas that scare the status quo.
The returns show Hank to be self-employed and single, with a total income of $5,000 and $5,800 in itemized deductions.
Once all payments and deductions are taken into account, Hank's tax forms show him owing $0 in taxes. He's signed the returns with a paw print.
